Welcoming facility for seasonal foreign workers
The work concerned the design of a ‘Welcome Center’ for workers coming to the north of Italy from eastern European countries seeking a short term employment during grape harvest.
The study focused on two core objectives:
- Accurate analysis of immigration trends followed by interviews of local administrators and farmers to define the social context and find out the most suitable location for such a center.
- Re-usage and renovation of the pre-existing shed buildings and design of new common spaces and low-cost residential houses.
